PORTUGAL/ RIP FERNANDO MATEUS

I have the difficult task to let you know that our friend Fernando Mateus left us early today.

He struggled for Life and Cinema for so many years, was a supporter and a fan of all the work we’ve been done in Portugal. He always honoured us as a follower and supporter of film societies. For those who have the privilege to meet in person, Fernando was THE ONE!

He was a friend, a film critic and cinema journalist.  A great friend and a brother of myself!

I know he is now, together with the great ones: Rosselini, Pasolini, Manoel de Oliveira, João César Monteiro, Paulo Rocha, Fernando Lopes, Juan Carlos and tutti quanti loved cinema and loved to talk about films! Somewhere they are together watching, making or discussing films or projects. We miss them all! We miss you Fernando!
