Don Quijote Prize at 59. Krakowski Festiwal Filmowy / 59th Krakow Film Festival
Krakow, May 26 – June 2, 2019
Jury: Anita Moe (Norway), Grzegorz Pieńkowski (Poland) & Michael Schäfer (Germany)
Don Quixote Award: Løvetannmamma / Dandelion Mum (Barbora Hollan, Norway 2018, 30′; doc.)
The film tells the story about an extraordinary woman, who never gives up and struggle for her life, both against the cancer and by criticizing a health system which still takes decisions based on money instead of ethics and humanity. She is fighting with the same undestroyable positive energy as the Spanish character Don Quixote! The woman’s struggling and the film can make a difference in the future, also for people without her capacity, intellect, knowledge, and science perspective.
Special Mention: Le chant d’Ahmed / Ahmed’s Song (Foued Mansour, France 2018, 30′; fict.)
It is a sweet story, well filmed, charming characters and it tells us an immigrants’ story through the eyes of an immigrant. Well done!
