FICC Report: Krakow Film Festival 2018

This years jury of the International Federation of Film Societies were

Dag Arne Nilssen/Norway

Anna Balkiewicz/Poland

Tapesh Sharma/India

We reviewed 35 short films in the categories fiction/documentary/animation and came to a final conclusion:

Don Quixote Award went to the fiction film DETAINMENT directed by Vincent Lambe (Ireland) and a Special Mention to the film JOE BOOTS directed by Florian Baron (Germany/USA).

It was not an easy task, because the standards of this years films were very high. However, we think we made some good choices. It was the first international viewing of Detainment, but later this film has won several prizes at other festivals.

Krakow Film Festival is a wonderful festival. The quality of the program were excellent with many interesting films. There were Q&A-sessions with directors and actors along with other interesting meetings for journalists and industry. The movie theatres were attractive with high standards.

We got a friendly and warm welcome at the festival. The accommodation were good, and so was the transportation. We had a really good time at the festival, and recommend it highly.

Yours sincerely

Dag Arne Nilssen
