DON QUIJOTE PRIZE AT INTERNATIONAL FESTIVAL OF NEW LATINOAMERICAN CINEMA 2016

At the 38th International Festival of New Latin American Cinema, celebrated from 8-18 December 2016 in Havana, Cuba, a jury composed of Latin American cineclubistas, awarded the Don Quijote Prize to the film:

To reflect a Cuban reality that is not usual in the cinema, which invites us to reflect on human relations, friendship, diversity, the roots of our peoples and their political commitment, using a staging where music, photography, scenography and the performances manage to promote a happy and honest drama that moves us all for its strength and courage.

And a special mention of the Jury to:

AQUARIUS

Kleber Mendonça Filho, Brazil-France, 2016

For being a film with a universal theme that focuses with seriousness and honesty on the real estate exploitation to the detriment of the quality of life, being the film a metaphor to speak of current issues as the resistance and the struggle of the towns, reflected through its The main character, Clara, and his immovable position in favor of human rights.

 

The jury was composed by Cristina Marchese (Argentina) secretary for Latin America of the FICC, Lázaro L. Alderete, president of the National Federation of Cineclubes of Cuba (Cuba) and Claudino de Jesús (Brazil) president of the FICC.

 

 

PREMIO DON QUIJOTE EN LA HABANA 2016

 

En el 38 Festival Internacional de Nuevo Cine Latinoamericano, celebrado del 8-18 diciembre 2016 en La Habana, Cuba, un jurado compuesto por cineclubistas latinoamericanos, otorgó el Premio Don Quijote a la película:

Por reflejar una realidad cubana que no es habitual en el cine, que nos invita a reflexionar sobre las relaciones humanas, la amistad, la diversidad, las raíces de nuestros pueblos y su compromiso político, valiéndose de una puesta en escena donde la música, fotografía, escenografía y las actuaciones logran potenciar un drama alegre y honesto que nos conmueve a todos por su fuerza y valentía.

Por ser un filme con tema universal que enfoca con seriedad y honestidad sobre la explotación inmobiliaria en detrimento de la calidad de vida, siendo el filme una metáfora para hablar de temas actuales como la resistencia y la lucha de los pueblos, reflejado a través de su personaje principal, Clara, y su posición inamovible a favor de los derechos humanos.
El jurado estuvo compuesto por Cristina Marchese (Argentina) secretaria para América Latina de la FICC, Lázaro L. Alderete presidente de la Federación Nacional de Cineclubes de Cuba (Cuba) y Claudino de Jesús (Brasil) presidente de la FICC.
