DON QUIJOTE WINNER OF THE 53rd KRAKOW FILM FESTIVAL

tired-of-being-handsomeThe FICC (International Federation of Film Societies) Jury consisting of: Anita Moe (Norway), Grzegorz Rylski (Poland), Michael Schäfer (Germany) has decided to give:

Don Quichote Award to the film ,directed by Léo Marchand and Anne-Laure Daffis (France).
In the spirit of Beckett’s “Waiting for Godot”, Anne-Laure Daffis and Léo Marchand ‘s poetic western is a metaphor for man’s struggle to find a meaning in the meaningless. The two protagonists of opposite personalities long for paradise – in this case Mexico- hoping to find a better life. But until then, they have to find a reason for their existence, not realising that everything will start again from the beginning. Great actors and well composed cinemascope images tell us this minimalistic though surprising poem, which is a mirror of our own existence and its meaning.

Special Mention goes to Anne Zohra Berrached for the film SAINT & WHORE (Germany).

We want to honour the courage of the director, Anne Zohra Berrached, but even more her two protagonists for stepping forward and telling us their story, which still remains a controversial issue.
